Combe Martin lies on the North Devon Coast, on the A399, and forms the westernmost tip of Exmoor National Park.  Most of the area of the parish is within Exmoor, and the rest is part of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  The village has one of the longest village streets in the country.  Combe Martin is listed in the Doomsday Book as 'Combe' owned by William de Falaise.  It became Combe Martin (with various spellings) some time in the 12^th Century, probably because it was then owned by the Martin family.

Today Combe Martin is a lively place in which to live and a good base for walking holidays or discovering all North Devon has to offer.  The village has two beaches both with wonderful rock pools to explore, a beautiful parish church and other interesting buildings, including the well known 'Pack O' Cards' (an inn built to represent a pack of cards).  The village is set in stunning scenery, with famous gardens nearby.   It offers a variety of pubs, cafes and shops as well as a bowls club and football club.

Combe Martin Parish Council was established in 1894 and has twelve unpaid members who are elected for a four-year term of office.  The next election will be in May, 2011.  For more information about our activities, please see 'What We Do'.
