When is the next meeting? Parish Council meetings are held on the second Monday in each month, in the Village Hall at 7pm.
Can I see a copy of the minutes? There is a link on the left hand menu, which takes you to the minutes for the last year's meetings. Minutes are available in Combe Martin Library or printed copies are available at the Parish Council office, including minutes from earlier meetings.
How do I report a street light that isn't working? By telephoning the Parish Council office on 01271 883403. We will need to know which street it is in and exactly where in the street it is.
How do I complain about the road sweeping? By telephoning North Devon District Council's Greensweep on 01271 374776 or the Parish Council on 01271 883403. Alternatively, you can make a complaint on the North Devon District Council's website www.northdevon.gov.uk or call into the Parish Council office at the Village Hall.
When are the bins emptied? Household waste is collected on alternate Mondays. There is a separate garden waste collection on the Mondays when there is no household waste collection. During bank holiday weeks, the collection is usually made one day late, ie on Tuesday. To check which collection is being made this week, you can check on the North Devon District Council's website www.northdevon.gov.uk or telephone the Parish Council office on 01271 883403. Recycling is collected every Tuesday.
What can I put in the recycling? Visit North Devon District Council's website www.northdevon.gov.uk to see what you can and can't put in your recycling green bin or bag.
How do I get a season ticket for the car parks? Season tickets are available from the Parish Council office at the Village Hall, which is open between 10am and 12.30pm each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Season tickets are valid for a year from the date of purchase and currently cost £110. We shall need your car registration number, make, model and a contact telephone number/address.
How do I appeal about a car parking charge notice? If you receive a Parking Charge Notice in one of Combe Martin Parish Council's car parks, details of the appeals procedure are set out on the Parking Charge Notice.
Can I take my dog on Combe Martin Beach? Combe Martin has an award for Combe Martin Beach, so dogs are not allowed on the Beach between 1 May and 30 September each year. We appreciate your help in respecting this restriction. Can I take a boat/personal water craft/car onto the Beach? You are welcome to tow a boat or personal water craft onto Combe Martin Beach with a vehicle, providing that the vehicle is removed immediately you have done so. You will need to produce your insurance certificate to the Parish Council and sign a form to say that you will abide by the Beach code of conduct. There is no charge for this. Please see the link to contact our office. Alternatively, you may wish to launch vessels at Watermouth Harbour or Ilfracombe Harbour. There may be a charge at either of these places.
What do I do if I want to say something at a meeting? The Parish Council allocates a period of up to 30 minutes at the start of each meeting to allow members of the public to ask questions or say something. Please follow the link here for more information on asking questions.
Do I need planning permission? The planning authorities for Combe Martin are either North Devon District Council, or Exmoor National Park, if you live within the National Park. You can ask either of these authorities about planning permission or the possible need for it via their web pages at www.northdevon.gov.uk or www.exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk or by telephoning NDDC on 01271 388288 or ENP on 01398 323665.
How do I object to a planning application? Planning decisions are made by North Devon District Council or Exmoor National Park Authority, depending where in the parish you live. It is important that you raise any objections or expressions of support with either of these bodies, as well as letting the Parish Council know your views. You can contact either of these authorities about planning applications via their web pages at www.northdevon.gov.uk or www.exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk , by writing to the Planning Unit, North Devon District Council, Civic Centre, Barnstaple, EX31 1EA or the Planning Department, Exmoor National Park Authority, Exmoor House, Dulverton, TA229HL, or by telephoning North Devon District Council on 01271 388288 or Exmoor National Park Authority on 01398 323665.
The Parish Council has three weeks in which to respond to planning application consultations, so although planning applications are normally considered at the monthly Parish Council meeting, sometimes they will be looked at at Highways, Property and Planning Committee meetings. To check when the planning application you are interested in is coming up, please ring the Parish Council office on 01271 883403 or email us at cmpc@northdevon.gov.uk You are welcome to attend either of these meetings, or you may prefer to send in a letter of objection or support.
How can I see a planning application? Planning applications can be viewed on North Devon District Council's website at northdevon.gov.uk Alternatively, you can see a printed copy at the Parish Council offices in the Village Hall, or by going into North Devon District Council's offices at the Civic Centre, Barnstaple.
